Terms of service

Short version: Bouncer is free. It comes as is, without warranty. You are responsible for the models you download, the output you generate and how you use it. The license in LICENSE.md sets out the rest.

These terms apply to your use of Bouncer, the desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux, and to this website. The license in LICENSE.md is part of these terms. If the two ever conflict, the license wins. Bouncer is published by Sachin Shankar.

The software

Bouncer is free to download and use. You receive a license to install and use it under the terms in LICENSE.md. The source code is not open source and is not part of that license. Bouncer's license covers the app you install, not the code behind it.

No warranty

Bouncer is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The publisher does not promise that Bouncer will be error free, secure or fit for a particular purpose. Keep backups of anything that matters to you.

Models and their licenses

Bouncer runs models that third parties make and publish, mostly on Hugging Face. Each model has its own license, shown on its page. You are responsible for reading and following the license of every model you download and use. Bouncer does not grant you any rights to a model, and it does not check whether a model's license allows your use.

Your content and what it produces

Your chats, documents, code, bots and files belong to you. The publisher claims no rights in them. Models can produce wrong, harmful or offensive output. You are responsible for checking what a model produces and for how you use it. Bouncer Code can change files and run commands on your computer when you allow it to, so review each change before you approve it.

Unsigned builds

Current builds are not signed or notarized. macOS and Windows warn you on first launch. Install Bouncer only from the official links in the download section or the releases page, and check the published SHA256SUMS where you can.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to Bouncer or these terms. Because Bouncer is free, the publisher's total liability for any claim is limited to zero, or to the lowest amount the applicable law permits.

Some places do not allow certain exclusions or limits. Where they do not apply, the rest of this section still applies to the fullest extent the law allows.

Changes to these terms

The publisher may change these terms. The current version is always published on this page, with its effective date at the top. Continuing to use Bouncer after a change means you accept the new terms.

Privacy

How Bouncer handles your data is described in the privacy policy.
